Chief Technology Officer

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) oversees the infrastructure and operations teams, which include voice and data networking, communications infrastructure, service operations, data center operations and services, service desk, desktop support, collaboration tools and cloud computing.

The I&O teams provide the networking and voice services that connect UChicago users within the institution and to the world. The teams also provide support for the Science DMZ, a purpose-built research network that provides UChicago data intensive researchers a dedicated, high-speed network pathway to collaborate globally. The CTO is also responsible for the University’s three enterprise data centers that support administrative and research computing, including Midway 1, Midway 2, and the Genomic Data Commons.

The support teams provide 7/24 service to the University community and manage tools and services that provide reliable and secure computing resources to our users. I&O is also responsible for the support of collaboration tools such as Office 365, Zoom and Box.
