Chief Technology Officer

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) oversees areas including Networking, Communications Infrastructure, and Service Operations (NISO), and data center operations and services. NISO, the largest single area under the CTO, provides the networking and voice services that connect UChicago both within the institution and to the world. The NISO team also provides support for the Science DMZ, a purpose-built research network that provides UChicago data intensive researchers a dedicated, high-speed network pathway to be able to collaborate globally. The CTO is also responsible for the University’s four enterprise data centers supporting hundreds of millions of dollars worth of administrative and research computing, including Midway 1 and Midway 2, and the Genomic Data Commons.

An organizational overview of IT Services, including unit staff and structure under the Chief Technology Officer, is available on Box at https://uchicago.box.com/v/ITS-Org-Overview.
