Brenda Janish
“Brenda has consistently demonstrated outstanding expertise, dedication, and a user-centric approach in her role as a UX designer consultant for the PhoenixAI project. Brenda’s expertise in refining our UI design for PhoenixAI has significantly contributed to making our platform intuitive and user-friendly as possible.
In addition to her exceptional design skills, Brenda’s commitment to meeting tight deadlines is truly commendable. She has often worked late to ensure that all design mock-ups, image files, and other artifacts are delivered on time, without compromising quality. Her reliability and work ethic have been crucial in adhering to our project timelines and delivering high-quality result. We can truly trust and depend on her.
Finally, Brenda’s dedication to our end users extends beyond PhoenixAI. Having worked close with her on other projects, such as the Intranet, I have a very high degree of respect for her skill sets and value her expertise. Brenda excels at managing the front end team’s ongoing accessibility efforts, coordinating with the CDA to help university sites on our supported platforms to achieve and maintain high levels accessibility.
I believe Brenda Janish exemplifies the qualities of a Star Award recipient.”
“Brenda’s leadership, guidance, and expertise during the Generative AI website project was exceptional. We were given an aggressive timeline to build the site, and she helped us every step of the way. She provided us with examples of sites that we could build in time as well as valuable input on UX and accessibility. She kept the project moving along and was always available when I had questions. I’ve worked on many projects with Brenda and in the past, and she consistently demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and collaboration throughout them. She’s a great colleague to have!”
Kristina Maldonado
“I wanted to recommend Flor for a STAR award. She has worked diligently and patiently as we’ve made multiple, multiple reviews and edits of the Service Now form for ITS Expense Requests. She has displayed patience and diplomacy despite the many iterative updates for language and workflow. She has been thorough and communicative throughout the process and we wouldn’t have as good of a product or as quickly if she had not been involved. Well done Flor.”
Karen Neuhoff
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and kudos to Karen for all the tremendous effort and support she has been providing to the Oracle Solution team during this critical FST hyper care/post FST support period over the past three months. With no formal requirements, she has done a phenomenal job of putting together the OS-Hypercare dashboard in a short time, based solely on the purpose explained to her. Her work to continuing to support us on enhancements and modifications of the dashboard based on our day-to-day learnings and findings during this support period has been very helpful.
This dashboard has been very critical to manage the daily workload and management reporting. Karen also respects the time sensitivity of our requests and is very prompt on her responses, be it on Teams messages or emails. Her follow-ups to ensure her solution or recommendation is working are a very welcoming aspect of the support she provides. Her dedication and adaptability have been invaluable, and we greatly appreciate everything she has done and has been doing.”
“Karen’s assistance with IT Services forms for FST makes her a Star Award nominee. Her diligence in coordinating, documenting and testing was impeccable as usual and assistance in ServiceNow FST work going smoothly.”
“Karen is a great example of someone who lives the ITS Values. She is inclusive and treats everyone with respect. She keeps her commitments, earning the trust of leadership, her peers, and customers. She‚Äôs a master at her craft and willingly and transparently shares information to help develop others. Essentially, she adds value through almost every interaction she has.
FST was a very busy time for most people in ITS, and Karen was no exception. Karen is willing to drive challenging initiatives outside her area of responsibility, even when her plate is overflowing or something is new to her. Karen does this because she recognizes when something is on the critical path to an initiative or an individual’s overall success.
Oracle support is tracked in multiple ServiceNow ticket types which are worked by various teams within the Service Delivery Network as well as the Oracle Solutions IT team. A consolidated Hypercare dashboard was needed to support the daily workload and management reporting. Karen volunteered to create this dashboard and worked diligently to deliver enhancements to it, regardless of her limited knowledge and visibility to non-ITSM ticket types like UC-Case. This was an incredible achievement! Karen is a star and deserves to be recognized with the Star Award!”
“Karen has helped me so much since I have come to the University of Chicago almost 5 years ago. Karen has created reports for me in ServiceNow that has help the ITS Service Desk be more efficient . She created a dashboard in ServiceNow that helped me see if tickets were late or sitting with no help for over 48 hours. She now uses the template she created for me for all the managers.
For the shift left project, anything I requested she got for me or suggested things I may need. To work with someone that you can trust and respect, and that I believe trust and respects me is a pleasure.
There is a thing I learned being a part of the diversity committee that a feeling of belonging helps make work easier and Karen has helped me feel like I belong here at the University of Chicago. Karen is Star for sure.”
Rene Noyola
“For the post-go-live support of the FST project, we needed to onboard Deloitte swiftly to ensure their team could start working without any delays. Ren√© played a pivotal role in this process, handling the creation and processing of all their CNetIDs with an impressive turnaround time of just one day. His responsiveness and efficiency were crucial in enabling a smooth onboarding process for Deloitte’s team. Furthermore, even with his busy schedule, Renee’s ongoing support has continued to make it easy for us to onboard and off-board their resources as needed, streamlining the entire process. His dedication and commitment have been invaluable.”
Kolleen Ritz
“I’d like to nominate Kolleen for her outstanding leadership in the successful launch of PhoenixAI and the development of the new generative AI website. Although there were tight deadlines, Kolleen guided the communications strategy for both projects, while fostering collaboration across various teams which led to the successful launch of both PhoenixAI and the generative AI website. Kolleen’s dedication, strategic vision, and leadership throughout the projects make her an exceptional manager and team player.
“The headline for Kolleen is that she consistently and cheerfully assists when asked to help, and she’s usually asked at the last minute. While she’s shone in the PhoenixAI realm, she’s also helped prepare emergency communications for incidents. We never know when one of those are coming up, but when we do, she’s great at navigating the speed with which we need to get things out the door.”
Abe Shaker
“Since the ITS Prodshop has been downsized to one person (and Barbara Ellis and Anna Dembowski retired), Abe has stepped up to keep the lights on, helping Prodshop stay on top of daily, monthly, and yearly challenges that we have faced. He was a major player in the transferring of processes/applications from mvs1 (mainframe) to the DE servers (WorkLoadAutomation).
He is not only a great person, but his knowledge of shell scripting and streamlining our tasks is phenomenal, and he is widely respected throughout the University. I don’t think there is anyone at the University that does not know who he is. I personally admired him for his family values (both home and work).
Dan Venske
“Dan has been great about advocating for digital accessibility during the PhoenixAI project development lifecycle. Specifically around coordinating accessibility testing and proactively including the CDA team in design and definition discussions so that potential issues can be identified as early as possible. On a complex and fast-moving project like this, his attention to detail and engaging us where necessary is very much appreciated.”
Michael Wu
“Michael handled a lot of configuration that was unseen or not as public for the GenAI project and deserves recognition to match!”
