About the Phoenix AI Project
The University developed this generative AI chat service, which is built with the latest large language models (LLM) from OpenAI and customized for the University community for its security, privacy, accessibility, and equity. For more information about the current features of PhoenixAI, view the release notes.
Features include the following:
- MyGPT: Build custom AI assistants tailored to specific needs that are specifically designed to handle unstructured data and text-based inputs.
- Chat Interface: Similar to ChatGPT, PhoenixAI allows for dynamic interaction with queries and responses.
- Data Security: Data submitted to PhoenixAI is kept within the UChicago environment and not shared with third-party vendors or used to train AI models.
- Prompt Templates: Users can customize the chatbot’s behavior and characteristics by using a prompt template.

About the Phoenix System
Phoenix is a best-in-class cloud-based philanthropy system comprised of the following:
- Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform
- UC Innovation Ascend
- Mulesoft Middleware for integrations
- Enterprise Data Hub for data analytics
- Eggplant QA for automatic testing
Additional capabilities that this program provides for UChicago is game-changing and includes the following:
- Enhanced integrations between applications
- Insights on prospect interests driven by machine learning
- Mobile-friendly access for constituents and staff
- More accessible and timely reporting
- Productivity gains from automated workflows
- 360-degree constituent view
- Near real-time updates of system data

The team had the goal of installing 2,000 Aruba network access points. The team exceeded that goal by installing 3,500 network access points. Their hard work will benefit campus buildings by bringing improved wireless coverage and speed.
